Congrats Sir Tim!

According to an article on the BBC’s website, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, is to receive an Order of Merit from the Queen of England.

I don’t think there is anyone who would argue with that award. Not alone did  Tim Berner-Lee invent the World Wide Web, but he made no attempt to patent it and that fact was one of the factors in its success.

Frankly, I don’t think there is a single person who has done as much to change the world for the better as Tim Berners-Lee.

  1. yeah — good on him!

If he’d attempted to keep it proprietary and/or patented, as many people did back then, we’d never be talking here. A great donation to the world.

Great contribution, true, but there just _might_ be someone who’s done more for the world!

  3. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him to chat about coming to the UK for the BIMA Awards amongst other things. You can tell that his mind is wondering in 100 different directions.

Re his contribution to the world… absolutely. He has done wonders to help integrate more people into society than anyone I can think of. I can’t believe I haven’t written a post about this yet! 🙁
