  1. BarCamp Dublin will happen if someone organises it, but I’m thankful that Tom and IT@Cork will help organise one in Cork. Count me in, although I don’t think I’ll be giving a talk this time.
I suspect sleepless nights will do no good for my communication skills!

  2. hiya Tom

would love to see another barcamp before the summer and if Cork is the sole option (only using that phrase because of your classic No.1 last Autumn!) then off I go to the National Software Centre.

However for variety alone would be good to see the barcampdublin.com crowd pull their respective fingers out and get a date and venue up for that.

Which does not exactly answer your question 🙂

  3. Tom

can you moderate the suggestions to keep them serious – there couldn’t be a real place called Birr.

    keith (off to buy barcampbirrrr.com)

  4. Birr, sounds a bit cold don’t ya think? 😉

Actually I don’t care if I’ve to go to the North Pole for a BarCamp… though anywhere on Irish shores is preferable 🙂

  5. Isn’t there a bigger science community at the South pole?

BirrCamp would be cool, and very central.

However I thought BarCamp Dublin was supposed to be May. If it’s not going to happen, then… well it seems you have the venue sorted

  6. I’ll book a flight for it and you’ll just change it 🙂 Good luck with the event. If I come I would love to present on emerging memes, buzz, sentiment detection etc. Simon

  7. That’s pretty freaky – I thought of this last night and decided to do it today, not realising Tom had also posted this earlier today.

  9. BarCamp Dublin is in the oven but not fully baked.

But to be fair, Tom talked about doing it in Cork first. So, perhaps we can talk off list to coordinate. I know Elly has specific months she’s unable to do so I’ll ask her off list. They need to be 8 weeks apart right?

  10. I think we should balance the regions and give the Dublin crew the month of February to decide whether they will pull things together for a May Barcamp.

  11. Bernie, timing is fine. We have some sponsors lined up along with a potential venue. I must admit that I’ve only joined Elly and Eoghan so I’ll need to confirm how far things have progressed. I think it’s pretty advanced – but we talked about asking Tom when he intended to organise one in Cork.

  12. I’m getting a bit confused between the three threads but basically I think having these altogther (within two-three month timeframe) is too much. If Dublin and Cork sort out which is next, I’d like to put back Galway by at least three months after that (cool date or not!) – maybe to September…
