Skitch

I was sent an invite to try Skitch. Skitch is a downloadable Mac app for taking pictures (via screen grab or from web cam) or adding pictures to via drag and drop; then annotating or doodling on the pictures, before sharing the resultant image via web service or simply dragging to email or desktop.

The application’s interface is incredibly slick and it is easily one of the most straightforward UI’s I have ever come across.

There is a video demo of it here

Look what it enabled me to do to this unfortunate photo taken at the recent Irish Blog Awards

Skitch

Skitch is in private beta at the moment but you can register your interest here.

  1. Really impressed with that Tom. I’m just on the verge of ditching my pc for a nice new iMac at the moment. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for Skitch.

  2. Classy pose Tom. 🙂 Sadly I haven’t had any exposure to Skitch but as an avid Mac user I’ll be doing my best to get my hands on a copy. Looks like a lot of fun.

  3. For those who haven’t been fortunate enough to get their hands on Skitch, Plasq also offer Comic Life. I discovered yesterday evening that there was a licenced copy preinstalled on my Intel iMac.

Imagewell is another app that does something vaguely similar to Skitch. Again it has an intuitive UI, and is great for doing minor adjustments to an image, without the need to awaken the beast that is Photoshop.

  4. Alas I had left before the dancing kicked off but it looks like you were aiming for a classic Michael Jackson dance move there (mostly due to the clutching-stomach manoeuvre). 🙂

  5. I think too that blogs are a wonderful way for politicians to enhance their image (especially if they have nothing to hide ;))
and to get in touch with their voters.

Here in Italy, some politicians got a regularly updated blog (Paolo Gentiloni for example, the current Italian Minister of Communications, has one).
