Our son Tomás had his ‘graduation’ from his Montessori class today. They dressed the kids up with mortarboards and had them singing songs!
It was great fun and Tomás had an absolute ball.
He starts in school in September.

Hi Tom,
Your little boy may be growing up and having a good time at graduation, but don’t you find the idea of ‘graduating’ from montessori a little disturbing? I certainly do, but I can’t quite put my finger on why. Is is a little too American, or grown up, or just simply inappropriate?
Eoin
Ah, I know what you mean Eoin (did you see the Incredibles – the scene where they are arguing about celebrating mediocrity?).
But, in this case, I don’t see any harm in it. In fact, positive affirmation, can be very good for a child’s self-confidence. In that respect, Tomás needs a lot of positive affirmation!
