She's really gone

We went to the funeral home yesterday afternoon to view my mother’s remains. I must say the funeral home did a great job and although it sounds strange to say it, she looks better now than she has done for a very long time.

Seeing her lying in the coffin brings an incredible sense of finality. Never again is a long, long time.

  1. Good luck and God bless to you all that are going through this. We were helped after my Da’s death by getting out the photo albums and looking through the good times, maybe it’ll be useful for you but probably a bit sad.

For us, it reminded us of my Da in his prime and I really needed that. I’d seen him too long as my ‘old’ Da, forgetting that he’d spent 70+ years on earth in rude health. To sit and tell stories amongst ourselves – some sad, some very funny that I hadn’t heard before – really helped. I also found a great photo that graces our kitchen wall now that shows him as I think he should be remembered.

Best wishes to all of you

    Pete
