Well, the post I made last night about the Yahoo! Del.icio.us rumours was confirmed this evening when Del.icio.us made the announcement of the takeover on its blog and Yahoo! posted the news also.
All day today I was doubting my source ‘cos no-one else picked up the story but, no, it came good. It is a great feeling to scoop a story like this by about 24 hours ahead of everyone else on the Internet.
Michael Arrington and others are following up on the story now.
The real question is who does Yahoo! have in its sights next? Who would it make sense for them to acquire now that they have bought Flickr and Del.icio.us? If only there were some application which tied these two together… a browser even… pity I can’t think of any 😉

If you are talking about Michael Arrington’s comment Piaras – that more than likely came from my emailing him to ask if he had heard anything about the rumour – I emailed him at 19:38 Irish time yesterday.
I don’t particularly like Flock, especially wrt. Firefox 1.5. I cannot however pinpoint it exactly other than to say it seems to mashup too many things in the browser which don’t exactly fit together and the price for that is incompatibility with Firefox.
Thanks for this story and bring del.icio.us to more people. Great site. Easy to see why Yahoo bought them. Looking forward to the next move in the Google / Yahoo / MS war. Let there be choice and may the best service win!
Flock to me seems like a plugin more than an actual product. Scoble was using it at his IT@Cork presentation and had to switch to firefox to get things working properly for RSS. Not very encouraging.
